Now that we’re well into the fall market, a lot of sellers are asking, “Should I wait until spring to sell my home?” Although there is less real estate activity in the fall and winter months, one of the benefits of selling now is that there is less competition on the market. In fact, this time of year, it’s fairly common for your home to be the only one for sale in the neighborhood — which is actually the best case scenario for home sellers. It’s true that you may get fewer showings this time of year, but the buyers who do look at your home are more motivated. These buyers are serious about making a deal. They’re not just out looking around, unlike many buyers in the summer. Finally, most sellers are concerned about moving during the holidays. Nobody wants to move over Thanksgiving or Christmas. Luckily, that is completely avoidable. We can negotiate closing dates and leasebacks so that you don’t have to worry about moving during the holidays. Buyers don’t want to move over the holidays, either, so these things are easy to negotiate. As you can see, there are many advantages to selling in the fall or winter. If you have any questions about preparing your home for the market or about real estate in general, give me a call or send me an email. I would be happy to help you!
