Winter is such a great time here in Central Austin—the heat is gone, replaced by nice and mild weather, and there are so many activities you can participate in around town. One of my favorite things to do here is to walk the Trail of Lights. The Trail of Lights began over 50 years ago here in Austin. Over time, the tradition grew, and it now has taken over all of Zilker Park. The route is over a mile-and-a-half long and features over 65 light exhibits.Along the route, you’ll find a light-bedecked Ferris wheel and other rides, vendors who serve hot chocolate and cookies, all in addition to 20 or 30 food trucks that are available for a nice dinner with your family.

Each year, more than 400,000 people attend the Trail of Lights. The best part? It’s completely free! But before you go in, be sure to check out the gigantic Zilker Christmas Tree that’s been strung up on one of Austin’s historic moon towers—the trick is to stand right in the middle of it, look straight up, and spin around as fast as you can.I hope you join me this year on the Trail of Lights, where I’ll be hanging out with my family. It’s truly a wonderful event to behold. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us. We’d be glad to hear from you. In the meantime, from my family to yours: have a wonderful holiday season.
